Food for thought: Has anyone thought of blaming ourselves instead of the government bashing? Anyone thought of doing something instead of blaming? And when I say doing something, I don't mean voting. That's an easy way out. Do you think the traffic cop that lets you go for a small bribe is much different that the security guard you hate at malls? Do you think the number of lives lost due to accidents is not related to those lost in terrorist attacks? Do you blame the government for the lives lost due to tuberculosis even though you see spit stains in your building? Do you really think a mere 'government' is gonna change anything? Saw Chak de today. Superb movie. Watched a movie of such high calibre after a long time. The production values are fantastic.Direction smart. Acting commendable. Sound awesome. Camera work slick. The makers have cleverly been able to hold themselves from being overly dramatic. The honesty in working for the movie shows in some amazing scenes. It had me in tears too in a few scenes. It most definitely touched me a few times. I don't know if I cried because of happiness or sadness. It really grabs you. There are some cliche^s but you are too involved in the movie to mind. I know my posts have become very irregular but believe me it’s not as though I’ve not tried. So many things have come into my mind that I wanted to post about but just haven’t been able to write anything. Read an article in the T.O.I written by an American tourist about her experiences in Mumbai's discotheques. It was so utterly disgusting to read this truth about our country. It really is. She says although she had experienced much more sexually colored pick up lines in the U.S., she was not at all expecting the kind of behavior that was shown in our country. There was groping and pinching and touching going on in every discotheque that she visited. Guys just took it as a free for all kind of an opportunity. This is addressed to all those who claim to be the fighting for equality in India. A Dalit in a village in Rajasthan was happy and excited as he was getting married that day. His family too was excited. They thought having the groom on a horse would be more fun, in a traditional sort of way. The news reached the upper caste people of the village. They reached the place in numbers and forcefully made the groom climb down from the horse. This was as supposedly lower castes didn't have the right to climb a horse for marriage. The groom and his family were threatened against approaching the police. They still did. The police filed a complaint according to the Scheduled castes and tribes Act. The media has gone bonkers it seems. There are so hungry for something sensational and so busy sensationalizing every piece of crap they have got their hands on that the news gets lost in between. It's so shameful that we can't expect to get the most basic of rights- the right to information due to the selfish motives of the Indian media. I am sure every one of you staying in India must have been bombarded by images and information about the anti reservation protests going on in the country. But sadly, that's just half the truth prepared and served in front of you with added spices. There's no doubt that there are anti reservation protests going on all over the country, but what is also true is that there are also pro reservations happening all over. Faith is very important. No matter how intelligent we become, no matter how technologically advanced we become, it'll still have a place in society. People are like babies. You keep them in a safe secure room alone and they will start crying take them out in a car or something holding their hand they won't mind if narrowly miss another car. The same way people are scared of the reality. It seems if you stay in Gujarat, all you have to do is just collect a lot of weapons and keep in mind as many people of the opposite religion you can. There's almost a free for all every year. It's so strange... sometimes you are unable to see what's near you coz your eyes are fixed too far. An incident like this happened with me recently. Everybody when looking at their country looks at the problems, the negatives etc.These are the things that bother us and thus this is all we think. Yet sometimes the greatness of our country is so conveniently missed. It took me two eyes looking at India from outside to realize this. India no doubt has made incredible progress since independence but lot still has to be done. The things that India prides itself upon are actually some of the things that desperately need some change. One of them is religion. It may be the source of spiritual inner peace but it sadly is also the one of the main reasons of the lack of peace.
