The media has gone bonkers it seems. There are so hungry for something sensational and so busy sensationalizing every piece of crap they have got their hands on that the news gets lost in between. I remember the time when 'Breaking news' first came on the scene. It was used only when the news was really …you know…big. Like an earthquake, a war, or something. Now every new development, every new report is 'Breaking news'. It's not long before we see stuff like these…"Breaking news- Shah rukh Khan has a hair cut", "Breaking news-Sonia Gandhi uses Pepsodent instead of Colgate today.", etc...
I still remember the footage when Suryanarayan's body was brought to his house. It was one of the worst things I've seen on TV. The body was brought there so that his wife could see him for the last time. But alas..several reporters witheir respective cameramen were present making the sad household a battlefield. Then the ambulance came. And as soon as the doors were opened, all the camers wnt up and in to the ambulance struggling to get the closest and best pictures of the body. They were pushing each other and the flashbulbs were going on at the same time. Just thinking what the wife must be going through at the time makes me feel really bad. There was no time for her to be with her husband for the last time. She would have to share it with vultures in guise of cameras clicking away madly.
The Rahul Mahajan fiasco is going on for the past two days. And what all things have the media covered...wow..this is what I call news...The history, chemistry, price, transport, users, effects on the body. etc about cocaine, Everything about Rahul, that Sahil guy and everyone who was a least bit involved. Of course we have to take it if every news channel reports something completely different from the others. You have to choose which one you want to believe.
They just want to fill the air time with something or the other. So they'll go around asking the most obvious things to each and every one..even Mr. Mundhe who was not even involved in the incident. "What was the substance? Who do you think did it? Why did it all happen?" "Could it be cocaine or some poison?" Now what does he know? Everybody knows only when the Lab reports come will anyone know what the substance was. Still...The doctors, the police, everyone were asked so many questions whose answers surprisingly were.."we can't say at the moment." Of course they wouldn't. A child would know that. How can they solve the case without any investigations?
The story as they believed it happened was told over and over and over again. Still they were not sure making changes and asking the same story again to anyone who they could get hold of. "What exactly happened?", with the mic. thrust close to their mouth and the camera with blinding lights around it real close to the face. And this was done by ten of them together.
The poor Sahil guy was almost kidnapped by the Aaj tak crew and taken to their studio. There he was grilled over and over again with the same pesky questions and in such a way that would have put our CBI to shame. And all this before he went to the police who were actually looking for him at the time...Now isn't that funny? The grilling continued until Sahil couldn't take anymore. This was done as they kept on saying ...for bringing the truth to the people. C'mon who are you kidding? Not his lawyer apparently, who stopped the interview at this point and lashed at the crew for crossing all limits on national television...Now that's what I call bringing the truth to the people. Lol.
The media isn't gonna stop anytime soon. News is not news anymore it's entertainment.I think news channels should be called entertainment channels. It's just pure entertainment. I think it's not long before we see, as I think as I read in a
Sidney Sheldon novel, media houses making news to make money. You might well see robberies and stuff made to take place just so that they can be reported. Yes it can happen.
And amidst all this mumbo-jumbo, I heard Geet sethi has won the World proffesional billiards championship for the fifth time beating some guy by a margin of 1000 points! This piece of news got almost 5 seconds... And then we say India sucks at sports.

Last month, one night, it was all very stormy in Delhi but it wasnt that severe too. I got a call from my family asking me if I was alright. Apparently, some news channel was covering that also!
It's going out of hand.
